How we picked
We chose the gyms with the most complete and verified information in our directory. Two of them have been confirmed by the gym owners themselves. No gym paid to be here, and we don't use review scores.
1. Bophut Fitness: the quiet, premium gym
A gym built to avoid the crowds: air-con, lockers, showers, parking and a functional training area, open 7.30 am to 9.30 pm. ฿350 for a day pass. The owner keeps this listing current, so the prices here are confirmed.
2. Koh Fit, Lamai: the fitness resort
Pool, sauna, ice bath, air-conditioned gym and classes, open from 6.30 am. ฿900 for a day pass; monthly training is priced as part of a programme. The place to go if you want a structured week of training rather than a gym membership.
3. Maraleina Sports Resort, Hua Thanon: everything on one site
Pool, sauna, ice bath, air-con, classes, lockers and showers, open 6 am to 10 pm every day. A sports resort in the south-east of the island with the most complete facility list we have for Samui.
4. Elite Gym and Fitness Exclusive, Chaweng: long hours in the main town
Air-conditioned, with classes and personal training, open 6.30 am to 10.30 pm every day. ฿350 for a day and ฿2,600 a month. The easy choice if you're staying in Chaweng.
5. Legend X Fitness, Bang Rak: open 24 hours
The island's 24-hour option, with air-con, for a ฿300 day pass or ฿1,699 a month. Near the airport and the Bang Rak pier.
6. Fitness Lab Samui, Lamai: the strength gym
Air-con, classes, lockers, showers and parking in Lamai. ฿600 for a day pass. A gym for people who lift.
7. Star Gym, Chaweng: the ฿250 day pass
Classes and personal training, open 6.30 am to 9.30 pm every day, for ฿250 a day or ฿1,800 a month. The cheapest way to train in Chaweng.
8. Gravity Movement Gym, Lipa Noi: the west coast's gym
Air-conditioned, with classes, on the quiet west side of the island. ฿450 for a day and ฿1,900 a month. Worth knowing if you stay near Nathon or Lipa Noi, where there is little else.
9. Chor.Ratchawat Muay Thai, Bophut: the Muay Thai camp
A proper camp with classes morning and evening, an ice bath and personal training, open Monday to Saturday. ฿400 per session and ฿5,500 a month. The owner has confirmed these prices.
10. Superpro Samui, Chaweng: fight training with a pool
Muay Thai, boxing and MMA classes, a pool and an ice bath, open Monday to Saturday. ฿500 per session and ฿2,000 a month, one of the best-value training camps on the island.
